September 30th

1965 – Frank Leslie’s estate was sold, including Brion Island and the Grindstone Arena.

1971 - The Manic, the first roll-on-roll-off ferry of the CTMA, arrived on the Islands.

September 29th

1924Authorization to sign the deed of sale of the land was made by the president of the school board. This served as the erection of the school that later became the Centre Jos Lebourdais in Grindstone.

1988 - Brion Island Ecological Reserve is designated by the Council of Minister of Quebec.

September 28th

1948Hector Carbonneau wrote two memoirs about the Islanders on: The Speech of the Madelinois and the archaisms of Madelinois speech. The Royal Society published the Canadian papers and invited Mr. Carbonneau to give lectures on the radio about it.

September 27th

1861 - In the last will and testament of Mr. Bélanger, a priest, he left five pounds to each of the Roman Catholic missions of the Islands and recommended the education of 10 young Acadians of these missions.

2000 - The service number 911 came to the Islands.

September 26th

1982 - The ore ship Agos, renamed The Saulnières, loaded the first shipment of 20,000 metric tons of salt aboard from the islands salt mine. For more info about the salt mine.
