GimmeADream 1939 - The first patient admitted to the new Islands Hospital, Hopital Notre-Dame de la Garde was Mrs Hilda Cyr, who underwent an emergency operation successfully at 23h 30m. (11:30pm).

Jeannot Painchaud
1992 – Acrobats originating from the Magdalen Islands triumphed at the Paris, France’s Festival of Tomorrow Circus (Festival de Cirque de demain). The three islanders, Alain and Damien Boudreau and Jeannot Chaisson, presented a special choreographed and took home the second silver metal. Jeannot Painchaud presented a number on a bicycle and won the bronze metal. These four acrobats were part of an artistic group in the province of Quebec.

GimmeADream 1889 – Nazaire Jomphe from House Harbour appeared before the court of Havre-Aubert. He was accused of concealing a $ 10 bill that his son had found in a public place. It was difficult for a Magdalen Islander fisherman to justify such a possession, at this time.
1964 – It was decided to entrust the future direction of the Regional Polyvalente School in Laverniere (local Consolidated High School) to the Brothers of the Sacred Heart.
1974 – The trawler G.C. Grosse-Ile, captained by Philippe Cummings, sunk near Grace Harbour, Newfoundland, with a
load of 425,000 pounds of redfish. The crew, after leaving the ship on lifeboats was rescued by the Portuguese trawler, the Aida Peixoto.

GimmeADream 1970 – Captain Willie Arseneault died at the hospital, Hotel-Dieu in Montreal, at the age of 66 years.
Captain Arseneault was a well known navigation professor for more than 20 years. He trained and taught many of the mariners and fishing captains of the 1960′s era.
