February 28th

1977 – In an article in the daily newspaper, Le Soleil, Franz Weber, an ardent defender of baby seal, dismissed the  hand work of the Canadian specialists during the Canadian Seal Hunts.

February 27th

1882 – At the municipal council of Alright it was resolved that any road inspector who is absent from the municipality before the expiry of office, shall give notice to the board before his departure. It was also resolved that the sum of sixty cents be paid to the estimators for revision of the list.

February 26th

1796 – Jean-Baptiste Boudrot, son of Joseph and his legitimate spouse Isabelle was born and baptized by Father J.B. Allain, the missionary priest who led the Acadian settlers from Saint Pierre et Miquelon in 1793. The godparents recorded were Benoit Boudrot and Brigitte Boudrot who signed her name with an “X” with the assistance of Benoit Boudrot.

1920 - Augustin Lebourdais, the islands ‘father of modern day communication’ died.

February 25th

1929 - At the council of Etang-du-Nord, they acknowledged a letter from Captain Abraham Despres requesting the assistance of the council for establishing a line of communication by sea, between the Magdalen Islands, Gaspe, Campbellton, as well as a few other ports on the islands of Cape Breton and Anticosti.  There was unanimous support for the proposal.

1980 - The municipal hall in Grand Entry was destroyed by fire.

February 24th

1933 – A show called ”The Orphan of the Pyrenees” (L’Orpheline des Pyrénées) was held at the St. Joseph Hall of House Harbour. The singers sang a song called “Living on our Beautiful Islands” (Vivent nos belles Iles) was much to the pleasure of everyone who attended. Dr. Solomon, George Binet and others enjoyed the show held at the convent. The song was composed by Rose-Delima Gaudet, cnd.
